I started working at Hemel in 2017, following the relocation of the magazine operation from Slough. I spent several years as a Team Leader/Supervisor before transitioning to the new role of Warehouse Manager. My day-to-day duties include managing the fast-paced twilight shift, where I overseeing all operational activities, and ensure that any issues arising during the shift are effectively resolved.

My favourite thing about working for Smiths News is being part of a company that values teamwork, responsibility, and continuous improvement. I enjoy working with people, supporting my colleagues, and building strong relationships across the team. The environment is supportive, there are real opportunities to grow, and every shift has a clear purpose and impact. It gives me a genuine sense of achievement when we come together, overcome challenges, and deliver a smooth operation.

I enjoy cycling to unwind, as well as spending time in the garden, and travelling to discover new places. Most importantly, I value the time I get to spend with my daughter.

I would tell my younger self to take opportunities even when you feel unsure, to keep building strong skills and ask questions and learn from others; to not stay in jobs that no longer help you grow, to look after your well-being and build good relationships at work, and to trust your instincts when choosing your next steps.
